Established in 1867, the Grafton National Cemetery memorializes over 2,100 veterans, including many Union and Confederate soldiers from the Civil War. It is home to the grave of Thornsbury Bailey Brown, recognized as the first Union soldier killed by a Confederate soldier in the war.
Due to its history and limited space, the cemetery is now closed for new interments. The cemetery is open to visitors daily from dawn until dusk
