- Ice skate at the Morgantown Ice Arena, located near White Park in Morgantown, WV.
- Grab your skis and trek cross country at Alpine Lake Resort, which is nestled in Terra Alta, WV.
- Take the family XC skiing, snowboarding, or sledding at Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground in Bruceton Mills, WV. These activities are free of charge and available from dawn to dusk, whenever weather conditions permit.
Snowy Walks and Scenic Hikes
Bundle up and explore the beauty of winter with invigorating walks and hikes through Mountaineer Country’s scenic trails and parks.
- Enjoy a nice winter stroll with your furry friend on one of West Virginia Botanic Garden’s trails.
- Grab your favorite boots and take a winter hike at White Park, which features five miles of wooded trails in Morgantown, WV, just a stone’s throw from town.
- Head to Snake Hill Wildlife Management Area for a snowshoeing adventure.

Embrace the magic of winter as you explore the rich culture and history of Mountaineer Country nestled in snowy landscapes.
Go on a guided museum tour at Arthurdale Heritage Inc. The New Deal Homestead Museum is a multi-building museum comprised of a forge filled with original tools, a service station reminiscent of a bygone era, the historic Center Hall, the original federal government administration building, and a fully restored Arthurdale homestead.

Explore winter’s best local finds and seasonal shopping delights in Mountaineer Country.
Shop the Winter Farmers Market at Mylan Park throughout January and February for handcrafted and locally grown produce and goods. The market is open every other Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
