Morgantown blends college spirit with small-town traditions. Fiercely local, eclectic and charming, downtown Morgantown, home to West Virginia University, is well worth the visit. Local love for the arts has grown into artisan markets and city beautification through painted murals and sculpture. Visitors and locals alike flock to this much-loved area to sample the locally sourced cuisine. Just outside the city are community gardens, walking trails, and the recreational crown jewel, Mylan Park.

Exploring this Appalachian community feels like discovering one of Mountaineer Country’s best-kept secrets. Vast stretches of land allow for local farms, big and small. Just down the road you’ll find Historic Arthurdale Heritage, a New Deal community, where you can soak in some culture. Stray off the path slightly and you’ll find local breweries and friendly faces.

Tucked in the southern side of Mountaineer Country, the town of Grafton is best known for its easy-going residents, trendy shops, and off-the-beaten-path restaurants. Families flock to nearby Tygart Lake State Park, especially during summer months when the large inflatables dot the lake. The terraced grounds of Grafton National Cemetery contain the burials of United States veterans of every conflict from the Civil War to Vietnam.
