Join Arhurdale Heritage for its dedication of the Fairfax Slave Cemetery on Friday, June 19, at 11 a.m. The memorial service and program will be held in Center Hall, located at 18 Q Road in Arthurdale, West Virginia, with a short graveside service following.
The dedication will feature performances from local poets and musicians. Dr. Tamara Bailey, associate professor of history at West Virginia Wesleyan College, will offer the main address, focused on the history of the cemetery, remembrance, and oral tradition. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free, and an RSVP is requested.
