Set in the 1590s, Something Rotten! follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they struggle to write a hit play while competing with the larger-than-life William Shakespeare. When a soothsayer predicts that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting all at once, the duo sets out to create the world’s first musical with hilarious and unexpected results.
Presented by the WVU School of Theatre and Dance, this high-energy production features a book by John O’Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick, with music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, and direction by WVU Theatre Professor Lee Blair.
